Rebecca MCNEIL
Visionary Artist, Contemporary Painter.

Seascape 01, 2020The artist was drawn to waves and a cold Icelandic seascape, with the loneliness and volatile movement of the waves strongly related to the artist's emotions and mind. This painting was created during an alienating pandemic by the artist's purest form of melancholy. Only emotion was used to express itself through cold and raw graphite brush strokes. Painting would not have become an outlet for the artist if this period had not occurred.

Horns,2020A Digital Portrait, paranoia was building in Lockdown, not a spiritual person perviously, she was now sensing strong negative spiritual energy’s, she couldn’t tell if it was her internalised or around her.

Roots, 2022This painting depicts the need to give in to one's roots, despite the blood line being the source of major traumas in her life, finally exposing her family tree with it’s dark twists and ends. The artist's unwanted attachment to her family is represented by the warped and writhed roots
became more visceral in the narrative, combining her interest in lively natural forms with the humanization of a forest.

Pumpkins, 2022A reset. A season of nostalgia for the artist. Almost a recurring awakening, which she first experienced in the first lockdown, finding her most authentic state of mind through rehab and complete isolation. This was painted in the third autumnal season since the breakthrough. The colour scheme has been revisited in comparison to before, it is now evoking a more divine sentiment. The pumpkins were discovered in a farmer's field, and she was drawn to their grotesqueness and intricate textures, which she wanted to replicate in her work, taking a further exploration into her painting style.
